Many customers have had similar experiences that the actual dry ice production capacity of the dry ice making machine is lower than the design production capacity. There are two main factors that determine the production capacity of dry ice maker machines:
- Size of ice making chamber
- Supply conditions of carbon dioxide (CO2)
Normally, once the technician completes the design of the dry ice maker machine, the size of the ice making chamber is fixed. Although there is slight deviations in design output due to the specifications of motor, oil pump, hydraulic and electrical components provided by suppliers, these differences are usually not significant.
Why sometimes the actual output of dry ice machines is much lower than the design output? In fact, this significant difference is mainly due to the supply conditions of carbon dioxide. Ideally, the raw material entering the dry ice making machine should be 100% low-temperature liquid carbon dioxide, but this is often not the case in reality. According to our professional engineer responsible for dry ice machine products, the raw material for dry ice production should be 100% low-temperature liquid carbon dioxide without gaseous components; However, during the process of transporting low-temperature liquid carbon dioxide from storage tank to dry ice machine, vaporization often occurs in the transport pipeline, transforming from liquid to gaseous carbon dioxide. Therefore, measures must be taken to reduce the vaporization of liquid carbon dioxide, such as reasonable arrangement of supply pipelines, insulation treatment of pipelines, etc., in order to achieve the design output. The vaporized gaseous carbon dioxide will be directly emitted into the air, and only liquid carbon dioxide can generate dry ice, with a liquid-solid conversion rate of about 1:0.4. It can be seen that ensuring that carbon dioxide enters the dry ice production equipment in a low-temperature liquid form is very important.
