What is dry ice?

Dry ice is solid carbon dioxide (CO2), not ordinary ice (ice formed from frozen water H2O). It is a white solid obtained by rapidly depressurizing liquid carbon dioxide. Its temperature at normal pressure is extremely low, at -78.5℃. Although it looks like ice, it does not melt into a liquid but sublimates directly into a gas, hence we call it "dry ice".

The dry ice making machine from Sichuan Aosituo is an ice maker that produces dry ice, not water ice. Dry ice is a colorless, odorless white solid that can be pressed into high-density dry ice pellets or blocks using a dry ice maker machine. Dry ice has an extremely low temperature and is a powerful and environmentally friendly cryogenic refrigerant with a cooling effect far superior to ordinary ice, making it ideal for cold chain preservation. However, direct skin contact can cause severe frostbite, so thick, heat-resistant gloves must be worn when handling dry ice.

At room temperature and pressure, dry ice sublimates directly from a solid to a colorless and odorless carbon dioxide gas without passing through a liquid state, leaving no water stains or liquid residue. During sublimation, its volume expands instantly by 800 to 1000 times, producing a large amount of gas. Do not place dry ice in sealed containers (such as plastic bottles, sealed bags, or household refrigerators). Instead, place it in a specialized dry ice storage box or ultra-low temperature freezer (cooling temperature below -78.5℃). Furthermore, the rapid heat absorption during sublimation causes a sharp drop in the surrounding air temperature, resulting in the condensation of water vapor into small water droplets, forming a large amount of visible "white fog," suitable for creating beautiful white mist effects in catering and stage performances.

Please note that carbon dioxide gas is heavier than air. If it accumulates in large quantities in a confined space (such as inside a car or a small room), it can lead to suffocation due to lack of oxygen. Please use dry ice or produce dry ice using a  dry ice making machine in a well-ventilated environment.
