Dry Ice Applications

Dry ice is solid carbon dioxide, due to its extremely low temperature (-78.5℃) and the property of direct sublimation (transitioning from solid directly to gas without leaving any liquid residue), dry ice is widely used across various fields. Its primary applications fall into the following six categories:

1.Food Preservation and Cold Chain Logistics

Dry ice blocks are used for the low-temperature preservation and cold-chain transport of fresh foods such as seafood, meat (beef and lamb), fruits, vegetables, and ice cream. 3.Industrial Cleaning and Decontamination

Artificial Rainfall: During periods of drought, dry ice is dispersed into clouds via aircraft; the rapid cooling effect induces water vapor condensation, thereby generating artificial rainfall.

6.Firefighting and Specialized Applications

Firefighting: Certain low-temperature fire extinguishers operate by utilizing the heat absorption from dry ice sublimation and the oxygen-displacing effect of the released carbon dioxide.

Specialized Applications: Dry ice is used for localized pipe freezing (e.g., creating an ice plug during water pipe repairs), insect trapping, cryogenic assembly (leveraging thermal contraction), etc.

Note: Dry ice is extremely cold; take precautions against frostbite during use. Avoid using large quantities in confined spaces to prevent asphyxiation caused by excessive carbon dioxide concentration.
